CJ Group Opens AI Center... Hired Meta Veteran Lee Chi-hoon as Center Director
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] CJ Group announced on the 14th that it will open an AI Center dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) related tasks in the first half of this year.
The AI Center head has been appointed as Lee Chi-hoon, who worked as a machine learning leader at Meta (formerly Facebook). The organizational structure and specific scope of work have not yet been determined, and it is reported that research areas applicable within CJ Group are being reviewed.
Earlier, at the end of last year, CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-hyun presented a mid-term vision and announced plans to invest 4.3 trillion won in digital AI-centered digital transformation and future-oriented technologies.

A CJ Group official said, "The AI Center was established as part of realizing the company's mid-term vision of AI-centered digital transformation," adding, "Under the new center head, the organization structure, research areas, and detailed task settings will be sequentially carried out."
