On the 11th, the Gyeongnam Police Agency deployed 186 officers and 86 patrol cars to carry out focused inspections around entertainment districts, restaurant areas, and highway entrances and exits within the province, resulting in 31 cases detected, including 19 license cancellations and 12 suspensions.
If caught drunk driving, drivers face civil liabilities such as increased insurance premiums and deductibles, criminal liabilities including imprisonment of up to 5 years or fines up to 20 million KRW under the Road Traffic Act, and administrative penalties such as license suspension or cancellation.
The police will also punish passengers in drunk driving vehicles as accomplices and continue to enforce vehicle confiscation for habitual drunk drivers.
