President Moon Exchanges Congratulatory Letters on the 60th Anniversary of Korea-Colombia Diplomatic Relations
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 10th, President Moon Jae-in exchanged congratulatory letters with Colombian President Iv?n Duque M?rquez to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Colombia.
In the letter, President Moon stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962, Korea and Colombia have steadily developed their bilateral relationship. He particularly noted the significant expansion of cooperation through the establishment of a strategic cooperative partnership in 2011 and the enforcement of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2016.
He also expressed gratitude to President Duque for, as the chair of the Pacific Alliance Summit in January this year, achieving consensus among member country leaders to commence negotiations for Korea's accession as an associate member of the Pacific Alliance.

President Duque evaluated that through Colombia's participation in the Korean War, the establishment of diplomatic relations, the strategic cooperative partnership, and the enforcement of the FTA, the two countries have continuously strengthened cooperation in various fields, and expressed appreciation for Korea's close cooperation in helping Colombia overcome COVID-19.
