Gochang-gun to Provide Disaster Basic Income to All Residents... 100,000 KRW per Person

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang County in Jeonbuk plans to provide disaster basic income of 100,000 KRW per person to all residents.

The county announced on the 10th that it decided to provide disaster basic income to stabilize the lives of residents who are increasingly struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to help recover the local economy.

However, an additional 200,000 KRW will be given to households supporting parents aged 65 or older and households with three or more children, in order to implement the county administration policies of ‘Filial Piety County Serving Parents’ and ‘Gochang Growing Children Well.’

The eligible recipients are residents registered in the county as of December 31, 2021, and applications can be submitted at the local town or township offices from the 14th of this month until the 13th of next month.

The payment will be made via fixed-amount prepaid cards, which can only be used at businesses located within the county.

The usage period is until September 30, and use is restricted at online stores, gambling establishments, entertainment venues, and franchise directly operated stores.

The county plans to implement a five-day rotation system based on birth year and a village-based visiting payment administrative service to disperse temporary visit applications from residents.

A county official said, “We hope that the disaster basic income provided this time will be of some help to residents affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We thank the residents who actively cooperated with quarantine measures despite the difficult circumstances.”

He also added, “We ask for continued compliance with quarantine rules such as wearing masks, social distancing, and restrictions on private gatherings until the very end.”
