SK Hynix Operates Eco-Friendly Program 'My Sweet Home'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] SK Hynix has launched a participation program called 'My Sweet Home' that enables employees to voluntarily realize eco-friendly values. This is part of the mid- to long-term goal project 'SV2030' aimed at maximizing social value creation.
On the 10th, SK Hynix announced that it will operate a participatory program where employees can voluntarily practice eco-friendly values in their daily lives. The purpose is for employees to implement the company's overall goal of net zero (zero greenhouse gas emissions and reductions) at home.
Employees participating in the program submit their residential electricity bills to the company every month and receive 'SV (Social Value) points' based on the amount of electricity usage reduction.
Participants compare their electricity usage for the current month with the previous month or the same period last year, applying the larger reduction figure. They receive 1,000 points per 1 kWh (kilowatt-hour) of electricity saved, multiplied by the number of family members. Even if no reduction is achieved, participants receive 10,000 points for joining the program.
SV points are a special system unique to SK Hynix to encourage and spread SV creation. Each point is equivalent to 1 Korean won and can be used in the company's online shopping mall, 'SV Mall,' among other places.
According to SK Hynix's estimates, if 10,000 employees reduce 10 kWh each per month, it is expected to result in an annual reduction of 502 tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to planting 213,957 pine trees.
