View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] For the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Korea, the number of new confirmed cases has exceeded 60,000.
Seoul City announced that from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 8th, over an 18-hour period, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 64,534.
After surpassing 10,000 for the first time on the 8th of last month, the numbers rose to the 20,000 range on the 17th, 40,000 range on the 22nd, and 50,000 range on the 3rd of this month, before soaring to the 60,000 range in just five days.
As of 6 p.m. on that day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul was counted at 1,198,123.
