On the 8th, KEPCO announced that it had jointly donated 1 billion KRW in disaster relief funds with five power generation subsidiaries and other group companies to support recovery efforts and assist disaster victims affected by the East Coast wildfires. KEPCO contributed 400 million KRW, the five power generation subsidiaries donated 100 million KRW each totaling 500 million KRW, and four group companies including Korea Electric Power Technology and KEPCO KPS each donated 100 million KRW, amounting to 400 million KRW. The disaster relief funds were delivered to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.
KEPCO is also providing relief supplies to disaster victims. Since the 6th, KEPCO has supplied relief goods worth 76 million KRW, purchased through KEPCO Gangwon Headquarters and Gyeongbuk Headquarters, to evacuation facilities for disaster victims in local governments affected by the wildfires such as Uljin, Samcheok, Gangneung, and Donghae.
Additionally, as Uljin, Samcheok, Gangneung, and Donghae were consecutively declared special disaster zones, KEPCO is implementing special power supply support in these areas. Residents in the special disaster zones receive support including ▲a one-month electricity bill reduction and payment extension for buildings damaged by the wildfires ▲exemption from electricity charges up to 200,000 KRW per month for up to six months for temporary evacuation facilities in temporary buildings ▲exemption from facility charges for electricity supply to temporary buildings and newly constructed buildings replacing destroyed or damaged structures.
Since the wildfire outbreak in Uljin and Samcheok on the 4th, KEPCO established an emergency disaster response situation room at its headquarters and entered a company-wide emergency work system. As part of the emergency work system, about 750 KEPCO employees nationwide visited the wildfire sites over two days on the 5th and 6th to support firefighting efforts and protect power facilities. Although some transmission lines in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, such as the Shintaebaek-Shinhanul nuclear power line, were affected by the wildfires, proactive grid management ensured stable power supply.
