[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] In Gyeongnam, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has remained in the 10,000 range for a week.
According to Gyeongsangnam-do on the 8th, as of midnight, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was 14,031, bringing the cumulative total to 246,838. Except for 3 cases from overseas arrivals, all are local infections.
By region, Changwon reported 5,121 cases, returning to the 5,000 range. Other cities with over 1,000 confirmed cases included Gimhae with 2,240, Yangsan with 1,741, Jinju with 1,317, and Geoje with 1,220.
Other cities and counties reported the following: Tongyeong 464, Sacheon 395, Miryang 315, Geochang 214, Haman 185, Goseong 160, Changnyeong 147, Hapcheon 129, Sancheong 96, Hamyang 89, Namhae 80, Hadong 78, and Uiryeong 40, indicating continued spread.
There were also 2 deaths. The health authorities reported that one patient in their 80s and one patient in their 90s undergoing treatment passed away.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province increased to 246,838 (779 hospitalized, 98,327 under home treatment, 147,542 discharged, and 190 deaths).
