Dispatch of Employee Volunteer Team After Wildfire Suppression
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] POSCO Group announced on the 7th that it will donate 2 billion KRW in disaster relief funds to the wildfire-affected areas in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gangwon-do.
POSCO Group decided to contribute 2 billion KRW in disaster relief funds to the National Disaster Relief Association to support the recovery of wildfire damage and aid for evacuees in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do, which were declared special disaster zones due to the wildfire that occurred on the 4th. In addition to the funds, 500 'Wildfire Victim Emergency Relief Kits' consisting of daily necessities such as toiletries, blankets, and instant rice will be provided to Uljin-gun to minimize the inconvenience of evacuees.
Once the wildfire is extinguished, POSCO Group plans to dispatch employee volunteer teams to support the recovery of the local community. In particular, through the housing environment improvement program 'Change My Town' operated by the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, employees will directly visit fire-damaged households urgently needing residential space restoration to assist with house repairs and wallpapering.
Choi Jeong-woo, Chairman of POSCO Group, said, "I hope that the donation and support of daily necessities will bring some comfort and help to the residents who suffered great damage from the sudden wildfire."

POSCO Group has previously donated various disaster relief funds, including 5 billion KRW in 2020 for COVID-19 prevention and containment, support for heavy rain damage in 2020, wildfires in Goseong, Gangneung, and Inje, Gangwon-do in 2019, and the Pohang earthquake in 2017.
