[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has uncovered 12 'scalp and skin care businesses' operating illegally.
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police Unit announced on the 7th that from the 14th to the 18th of last month, they conducted an investigation targeting 90 scalp care and skin beauty businesses within the province and found 12 locations (21 cases) violating the Public Hygiene Management Act.
Among the major cases uncovered, a scalp care business A located in Goyang City is a nationwide franchise, but the operator did not have a beautician license and did not report the beauty business to the local district office. Skin beauty business B in Osan City had registered as a beauty business (skin), but it was confirmed that for about three years, it performed scalp care, shampoo, and other 'hair and scalp treatment' services that are only allowed under beauty business (general).
According to the current Public Hygiene Management Act, unreported business operations are punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW; failure to report changes results in imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of up to 5 million KRW; and performing such work without a license is subject to a fine of up to 3 million KRW.
