Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Education for Group Homes for Disabled Persons
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Western Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that it conducted customized fire safety education for people with disabilities and their instructors in group homes.
Group homes for people with disabilities are family-like facilities where a small number (4-5) of people with disabilities live together in a shared household similar to a general family. As a special fire safety education policy of the Western Fire Station, close safety education on disaster response is being provided to a small number of people with disabilities who may be neglected in fire safety education.
The education focused on improving the disaster response capabilities of intellectually disabled residents in group homes, combining close emergency response training with practical exercises.
The curriculum included evacuation and response procedures in case of fire using their usual living spaces, as well as rapid evacuation guidance methods for instructors.
