View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The National Election Commission announced that as of 11 a.m. on the second day of early voting for the 20th presidential election on the 5th, the turnout rate was recorded at 23.36%.
This figure is 7.92 percentage points higher than the turnout rate at the same time during the 19th presidential election in 2017 (15.44%). It has already surpassed the final early voting turnout rate of 20.14% in the 2018 local elections. Since early voting began at 6 a.m. the previous day, 10,322,978 out of a total of 44,197,692 registered voters have cast their ballots.
As of 11 a.m. today, the region with the highest early voting turnout rate is Jeollanam-do (36.00%), while the lowest is Daegu (20.69%). In Daegu, a by-election for the National Assembly in Jung and Nam districts is being held alongside the presidential election. Early voting can be done at 3,552 early voting stations nationwide with just an ID card and no separate registration required. Early voting stations have also been set up at Seoul Station, Yongsan Station, and Incheon International Airport.

Voting hours are until 6 p.m. today. COVID-19 confirmed patients and those in quarantine can vote at temporary polling stations separated from the general voters' flow. The National Election Commission urged that they must arrive at the early voting stations between 5 p.m., when the quarantine authorities allow outings, and before 6 p.m.
