'Kim Geon-hee's Sexual Bribery Remarks' to Kim Yong-min... Ruling Party's Harsh Words: "Remain Silent Until the Presidential Election"
With "There is a line to be kept in politics"
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, advised Kim Yong-min, a political commentator from the podcast 'Naneun Kkomsuda,' regarding his controversial remarks about 'sexual bribery,' saying, "I hope he keeps his vow of silence."
Hong Jeong-min, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's presidential campaign committee, stated on his social media (SNS) on the 4th, "Broadcaster Kim Yong-min broke his vow of silence just one day after declaring it. This is deeply regrettable."
He pointed out, "No matter how fierce the competition during elections is, there are boundaries that must be respected in politics," adding, "However, Kim Yong-min is breaking those boundaries and trying to drag the election into the mud."
He further criticized, "The presidential election, which should be a festival of democracy, is only resulting in pouring cold water on the public's interest and participation."
Spokesperson Hong urged, "I hope he seriously reflects on how his words and actions could help our politics and society," and added, "I hope Kim Yong-min keeps his promise to remain silent until the presidential election."
Earlier, on the 2nd, Kim wrote on SNS targeting Kim Geon-hee, spouse of People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl, "Yoon Seok-youl, Lee Jae-myung's competitor, while serving as a prosecutor, is strongly suspected of receiving sexual bribery from Kim Geon-hee in exchange for accepting various gifts including meat and providing investigative favors."
After the remarks sparked controversy, Kim stated, "I feel like I have committed a grave sin. I will remain silent until the presidential election."
