Jangseong-gun Fully Supports Taxi Fare Card Payment Fees
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it has decided to fully support the card payment fees borne by taxi workers starting this year.
The target includes all taxis in the Jangseong area, consisting of 16 corporate taxis and 73 individual taxis.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, taxi passengers recently show a clear preference for card payments over cash. In the case of Jangseong-gun, the number of taxi fare card payments increased by about 28%, from approximately 64,000 cases in 2020 to about 82,000 cases last year.
Accordingly, the county decided to implement a support measure reflecting this reality. Originally, a card fee of 10,000 KRW per taxi per month was supported, but this has been expanded to 'full support.' This is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on taxi workers.
A Jangseong-gun official said, "We hope that the full support for taxi fare card payment fees will help local taxi workers who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation."
