Lee Announces Five Major Youth Job Pledges for 'Youth Opportunity Nation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, promised to provide unemployment benefits to young people who voluntarily resign.
On the 4th, Candidate Lee posted on Facebook a post titled "Youth Jobs, Lee Jae-myung Will Take Responsibility" and announced the "Five Major Youth Job Pledges."
Candidate Lee proposed ▲Youth Employment Activity Account System ▲Unemployment Benefits for Youth Who Voluntarily Resign ▲Youth Work Experience Guarantee System ▲Introduction of Youth Job Social Responsibility System ▲Expansion of Non-face-to-face Jobs.
Regarding providing unemployment benefits to youth who voluntarily resign, Candidate Lee promised, "At least once in their lifetime, even if they submit a resignation letter, they will be able to receive unemployment benefits," adding, "Through this, we will open opportunities for youth to explore new career paths."
The Youth Employment Activity Account System aims to support time and costs that can be freely used for job preparation such as tuition fees, certification exam and TOEIC test fees, and interview expenses. Candidate Lee said, "We will guarantee the autonomy and choice of youth during the job-seeking process."
Along with this, through the Youth Work Experience Guarantee System, a living wage will be guaranteed so that youth can acquire skills and job competencies for about two years. He emphasized that by introducing the Youth Job Social Responsibility System, the mandatory youth employment rate in public institutions will be raised to 5%, and new hiring will be significantly increased. Candidate Lee pledged, "We will create one million digital jobs preferred by youth such as SW, AI, and Metaverse."
Additionally, to allow working at desired times and places, remote work will be institutionalized, and infrastructure for non-face-to-face work such as telecommuting, smart work, and workation will be expanded.
