8 out of 10 Voters Say "Will Definitely Vote in This Election"... Early Voting Rate Also Highest Ever
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] In the 20th presidential election, 8 out of 10 voters responded that they will definitely vote.
On the 4th, the National Election Commission announced that 86% of voters plan to definitely vote in the presidential election to be held on the 9th.
According to the results of a survey conducted by Gallup Korea on behalf of the Election Commission from the 27th to 28th of last month, targeting 1,522 voters nationwide aged 18 and over, 86.0% responded that they would "definitely vote" in this presidential election. This is a 0.9 percentage point decrease compared to the second survey of the 19th presidential election (86.9%).
On the other hand, 81.1% of voters responded that they have already "decided on a candidate to vote for," which is a 10.3 percentage point increase compared to the 19th presidential election survey (70.8%).
Additionally, 30.8% responded that they will vote during the early voting period.
The early voting turnout, which started at 6 a.m. on the same day, recorded 12.31% as of 3 p.m. This is 4.03 percentage points higher than the early voting turnout on the first day of the 19th presidential election in 2017 (11.7%).
