[Asia Economy Reporter Park Ji-hwan] The embezzlement and breach of trust case involving Moon Eun-sang, former CEO of Sillajen, and other Sillajin executives has reached its final verdict at the Supreme Court.
According to the legal community on the 3rd, Moon's defense attorney and the prosecution filed an appeal with the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1-1 (Presiding Judges Lee Seung-ryeon, Eom Sang-pil, and Shim Dam) challenging the appellate court's ruling.
The Seoul High Court found Moon guilty of most charges and sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of 1 billion KRW. While the prison sentence remained the same as in the first trial, the fine was significantly reduced from 35 billion KRW in the first trial to 1 billion KRW.
