Chairman Ha appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that day and said, "(I also) found out about the unification at 6 a.m.," adding, "From Candidate Yoon's perspective, he was not confident until the end of the debate, and even past midnight (12 a.m. the previous day), he was unsure, but between 12:30 and 1 a.m., he changed direction and went to meet Candidate Ahn." He continued, "Behind the scenes, the communication channel, which was likely through Assemblymen Jang Je-won and Lee Tae-gyu, was used to discuss the unification."
Regarding the unification discussion held at the home of Professor Sung Kwang-je of KAIST, who is Assemblyman Jang Je-won's brother-in-law, he said, "The two (Candidate Ahn and Professor Sung) were next-door neighbors when they were at KAIST, and Professor Sung is also the chairman of the Ahn Cheol-soo Foundation, so they are very close," adding, "Due to quarantine measures, there was nowhere to go at night, so that place was the only available space."
On the background behind Candidate Ahn's sudden decision to unify, he said, "To speak frankly on a personal level, Ahn Cheol-soo's politics has developed into a remarkable and significant political force," and added, "Candidate Ahn made the decision based on the public sentiment as perceived by his close aides and those around him."
