Gyeonggi-do Secures 1,515 'Special Beds' for COVID-19 Patients in Nursing, Dialysis, and Maternity Care
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has secured 1,515 special beds for COVID-19 patients requiring nursing care, dialysis, childbirth, and pediatric treatment.
On the 2nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it secured a total of 1,515 special beds at 37 hospitals (excluding duplicates), including 156 dialysis beds, 11 childbirth beds, 250 pediatric beds, and 1,098 elderly nursing care beds.
The province previously established a cooperative system with city and county emergency medical centers, infectious disease dedicated hospitals, public health centers, and fire stations to respond organically to emergency patients occurring during home treatment.
To treat mild emergency patients, three medical institutions?Namyangju Hanyang Hospital, Gimpo Woori Hospital, and Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Icheon Hospital?are operating as 'COVID-19 dedicated emergency rooms.'
Patients with minor trauma are treated at community outpatient clinics, while severe patients are quickly assigned to COVID-19 dedicated emergency centers or regional emergency medical centers with available beds through coordination with central emergency medical centers, thereby efficiently utilizing medical resources.
Meanwhile, as of the 1st, the number of COVID-19 dedicated treatment beds secured at medical institutions in the province, including severe beds, is 6,005, of which 3,175 beds, or 52.9%, are currently in use.
