Following the European Union (EU) and Canada announcing flight bans earlier, the U.S. is expected to join within 24 hours.
On the 1st (local time), the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources within the U.S. government, reported, "As Western sanctions against Russia's invasion of Ukraine expand, the U.S. government is reviewing a ban on Russian aircraft flying in U.S. airspace," adding, "Some sources expect the U.S. government to issue a flight ban order on Russian-registered aircraft within as soon as 24 hours."
Earlier, the European Union (EU) and Canada declared a flight ban on Russian-registered aircraft, and the U.S. is reportedly reviewing measures to join these sanctions.
