Yoon-Li Neck and Neck Within Margin of Error
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 1st, a public opinion poll showed that Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, are in a close race within the margin of error.
According to the survey conducted by the polling agency Media Tomato on behalf of News Tomato from the 26th to the 27th of last month, targeting 1,452 adults nationwide aged 18 and over, Yoon's support rate was 44.2%, while Lee's was 42.0%. The gap between the two candidates was 2.2 percentage points, which is within the margin of error (sampling error at 95% confidence level ±2.6 percentage points).
Following them were Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party with 8.5%, and Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party with 2.1%.
By age group, Yoon had higher support among those in their 20s (40.9%), 30s (44.0%), and 60s and above (58.3%), while Lee led among those in their 40s (55.1%) and 50s (51.9%).
By region, Yoon led in Seoul (46.4%), the Chungcheong area (50.3%), Daegu·Gyeongbuk (60.8%), and Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (46.4%), while Lee was relatively ahead in Incheon·Gyeonggi (43.1%) and Gwangju·Jeolla (69.8%).
