Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said on the 27th (local time), "We hope that Ukraine becomes a member of the EU."
In an interview with Euronews on the same day, President von der Leyen stated, "In time, Ukraine will belong to us (the EU)."
Her remarks came just hours after the 27 EU member states decided to provide financial support for arms supplies to Ukraine in response to Russia's invasion.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, also stated on Twitter, "I discussed with President von der Leyen via phone call decisions regarding Ukraine's EU accession, strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, and macro-financial assistance."
