Damyang-gun Continues Sharing Event Wishing Longevity for Seniors
Delivery of luxury tissues worth 5 million won to 500 senior households in the district
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] Volunteer groups in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do are warming the local community by volunteering for the elderly in the area.
On the 24th, Bongsan-myeon held a sharing ceremony at the Bongsan-myeon office attended by Pastor Kim Gwanghyun and elders of Bongsan Church, who donated 500 sets of premium tissues (worth 5 million KRW), along with Go Jinseong, the head of Bongsan-myeon.
This sharing was made with the warm hearts of Bongsan Church, delivering comfort and a message of encouragement for long life to the elderly who have endured difficult conditions due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Bongsan Church delivered 150 sets of nut gift packages (worth 5 million KRW) for the Lunar New Year in February last year, and has been consistently practicing neighborly love for the local community by sincerely volunteering to prepare side dishes for vulnerable groups every year.
Go Jinseong, head of Bongsan-myeon, said, “We thank Pastor Kim Gwanghyun for practicing neighborly love in the community,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a happy local community together through cooperation between the public and private sectors.”
◆ Damyang 220 Volunteer Association donates Korean beef bone broth for vulnerable groups in Yong-myeon
The Damyang 220 Volunteer Association (President Park Youngsoo) entrusted 200 packs of beef bone broth (worth 1.2 million KRW) to the Yong-myeon office.
On this day, the Korean beef bone broth was prepared at the restaurant ‘Hanuji’ (CEO Nam Kihoon) located in Damyang-eup, operated by a member of the volunteer association, and was delivered to vulnerable elderly in Yong-myeon with hopes that they stay warm and healthy during the cold winter days.
The Damyang 220 Volunteer Association was formed in 2020 with 20 members who have the youthful passion of their twenties, and they carry out volunteer activities to help neighbors living in vulnerable environments.
Last December, they visited the home of a single elderly resident in Yongchi Village, Yong-myeon, to carry out housing environment improvement volunteer work, and plan to continue volunteer activities to support vulnerable groups in the local community.
