About 40,000 Doses of COVID-19 Oral Antiviral Paxlovid Arrive at Incheon Airport
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] An additional 41,000 doses of Pfizer's oral COVID-19 treatment Paxlovid arrived in South Korea on the 27th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that the third shipment of 41,000 doses of Paxlovid, out of the 762,000 doses contracted for purchase with Pfizer, arrived at Incheon Airport at 1:08 PM on the same day. Including shipments on the 13th and 30th of last month and today, a total of 73,000 doses have been delivered to the country in three shipments.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, from the start of Paxlovid administration on the 14th of this month until 6:30 PM on the 24th, a total of 17,660 people have been prescribed Paxlovid. Currently, the prescription targets are those aged 60 and above, immunocompromised individuals, and patients in their 40s and 50s with underlying conditions.

The government has secured a total of 1,004,000 doses of oral treatments, combining 762,000 doses of Paxlovid and 242,000 doses of Merck & Company (MSD)'s Molnupiravir.
