Hyundai Motor supplied its eco-friendly hydrogen electric bus, the 'Elec City FCEV,' to Austria's public transportation company 'Wiener Linien,' and announced on the 27th (Sunday) that it has started operating on the route with the highest passenger volume in Vienna city.
The deployed 'Elec City FCEV' is part of the HyBus Project, an Austrian government-led initiative to expand hydrogen infrastructure and promote related businesses. Hyundai supplied a total of three buses, which will be sequentially utilized on various regional routes across Austria, starting from Vienna to Graz, Salzburg, and others.
The hydrogen electric bus 'Elec City FCEV' operating in Vienna features a fuel cell system with excellent performance and durability, as well as the largest hydrogen tank capacity in its class, enabling it to travel up to 550 km on a single charge.
In particular, Hyundai's hydrogen electric bus 'Elec City FCEV' was selected as a partner for the HyBus Project due to its outstanding product qualities such as long driving range and short charging time, which suit Vienna's road conditions characterized by high vehicle density and short distances between traffic lights.
Through the supply of the hydrogen electric bus 'Elec City FCEV' to Austria, Hyundai Motor expects to demonstrate differentiated eco-friendly vehicle technology and gradually expand its hydrogen electric bus business in the future.
