Gwangju Nam-gu Establishes 'Digital System' for Serious Accident Prevention
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is launching the establishment of a digital safety and health management system to protect residents' lives and property from various serious accident risks, including construction site collapses.
This initiative follows the full enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act starting January 27 this year, and aims to actively reflect the social agenda demanding stronger employer responsibility for various safety accidents in district administration.
According to Nam-gu on the 25th, on the afternoon of the 24th, a 'Digital Safety and Health Management System Establishment Agreement Ceremony for Serious Accident Prevention' was held in the 7th-floor situation room of Nam-gu Office, attended by District Mayor Kim Byung-nae and Maot CEO Oh Dong-sik, among others.
Following the agreement, Nam-gu and Maot will actively promote the establishment of a digital management system that raises the level of accident prevention and response to create a healthy society free of serious accidents and safe workplaces.
In particular, they decided to shift from the existing analog method focused on document preparation to a digital safety and health management system that integrates and manages the status of various construction works and other activities taking place at local sites via computer.
The newly introduced system allows for at-a-glance monitoring of the number of personnel and equipment deployed at local sites on the day of work, the number of cooperating companies involved in construction, and corrective and preventive measures for repairs and reinforcements requested by workers due to damages.
Additionally, it is a systematic system that digitally manages safety indicator statuses expressed numerically based on safety indices considering factors such as aging equipment, proportion of elderly personnel, weather, and work risk levels, as well as industrial accident occurrences, safety education, and safety management cost input status, serving as a site-centered control tower.
District Mayor Kim said, "With the establishment of an immediate and systematic safety management system, it is expected that risk factors can be predicted in advance and prevented. We will do our best to create a safe city without serious accidents by prioritizing safety as the highest value."
