UK Prime Minister: "Putin Chooses Path of Destruction... Firm Response with Allies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson criticized on the 24th (local time) that "Russian President Vladimir Putin has chosen the path of bloodshed and destruction."
Regarding the Russian military's entry into Ukrainian territory, Prime Minister Johnson wrote on Twitter, "It is horrific. The UK and its allies will respond firmly."
He said, "I spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the next steps."
Johnson chaired an emergency security meeting (COBRA) on the same day.
James Cleverly, Minister of State for Europe and North America at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, said in an interview with Sky News, "The UK and its allies will hit Russia with unprecedented sanctions."
Minister Cleverly said, "Sanctions will be announced today, and additional sanctions will follow within days." He pointed out the impact of the ruble's collapse on the Russian financial market and said that even if President Putin does not care about the sanctions, his close associates will be very concerned.
