Integrated Support Program for Technology Transactions and Commercialization for SMEs
New Projects Supported with a Total Budget of 4.66 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Kwon Chil-seung, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced that it has finalized the 2022 support plan for revitalizing technology transactions among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and will begin announcing support plans through the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, the dedicated institution for technology transactions and commercialization, starting from the 25th.
The support project for revitalizing technology transactions among SMEs consists of detailed programs including the establishment of a technology transaction foundation to activate technology transactions of domestic SMEs and an integrated support program to increase the success rate of commercialization of externally introduced technologies. This year’s budget is 4.66 billion KRW.
The technology transaction foundation project supports the creation of technology demand proposals (RFT) that include the technology and commercialization demands of SMEs, and the production of technology marketing information (SMK) for excellent technologies held by universities and public research institutes. Through this, the plan is to expand genuine demand and supply information within the technology transaction market so that SMEs can easily explore and adopt excellent technologies suitable for commercialization from the technology transaction stage.
Additionally, the SME technology transaction platform (TechBridge) will introduce an artificial intelligence (AI) search engine and a blockchain-based online contract system, and support system advancement to handle big data. Through this, starting within the year, SMEs will be able to receive customized technology recommendations according to their growth stage and communicate easily and quickly with companies and researchers possessing excellent technologies through the platform.
For excellent technology transactions, support will be provided for brokerage fees and technology value evaluation costs incurred to alleviate the cost burden on SMEs and improve the profitability of private technology transaction and valuation institutions.
The integrated support project for technology transaction commercialization plans to support 60 technology-innovative SMEs through an integrated support program that allows SMEs to receive uninterrupted support from the technology introduction stage to commercialization and business operation, thereby increasing the success rate of commercialization. SMEs will receive continuous support within a single program from technology transaction to commercialization and business operation, moving away from fragmented support, reducing the time and cost required for commercialization, and increasing the success rate.
