Yeosu-si to Crack Down on Obstruction of 'Electric Vehicle' Charging
March Guidance Period, Fines of 100,000 to 200,000 KRW Imposed for Violations Starting April
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it will conduct intensive crackdowns on 'obstructive acts in electric vehicle charging zones' starting in April.
The city will operate a promotion and guidance period until the end of March following the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the "Act on the Development and Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Automobiles" on January 28, and will begin intensive crackdowns from April.
The crackdown targets include ▲parking of general vehicles in charging zones and exclusive parking spaces ▲obstructive acts such as placing objects in charging zones ▲continued parking after charging is complete (exceeding 1 hour for rapid charging, 14 hours for slow charging) ▲intentional damage to charging zone markings, letters, or other charging facilities.
Fines ranging from 100,000 KRW to a maximum of 200,000 KRW will be imposed depending on the violation, with only a warning given for the first offense.
A city official stated, "We plan to continue active promotion and administrative guidance regarding obstructive acts in charging zones to make it more convenient to use environmentally friendly vehicles, and we ask for citizens' interest and participation to establish a proper electric vehicle charging culture."
