Current National Assembly Member's Secretary Steals Money Left at ATM and Flees
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Jung-wan] A secretary of a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party is being pursued by the police for stealing money left at a bank ATM and fleeing.
On the 22nd, the Geumjeong Police Station in Busan announced that they are tracking a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of theft and other offenses.
According to the police, A is suspected of taking cash left behind by a previous customer at a bank ATM in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, around 11:50 a.m. on the 26th of last month. The stolen amount is reported to be 500,000 won.
A is said to have been a driver secretary for a National Assembly member in the Busan area, and upon checking the license plate of the vehicle A was driving, the police confirmed it belonged to the assembly member's office.
A reportedly applied for resignation from the assembly member's office last weekend due to personal reasons, and the police are currently tracking A's movements through nearby CCTV footage.
