Tesla Faces Another Lawsuit Over Racial Discrimination Neglect... Also Accused of Safety Rule Violations
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Tesla has been sued again for allegedly allowing racial discrimination against all employees.
According to major foreign media on the 22nd (local time), Mark Cage, an African American who worked as a construction manager at Tesla, filed a lawsuit on the 18th at the Alameda County Superior Court in the U.S., claiming that Tesla violated safety regulations within the factory and allowed racial discrimination.
In the complaint, he argued that safety violations that could lead to a major explosion occurred at Tesla's battery factory in Nevada, and that there are systemic issues that could cause serious injuries to on-site workers. He emphasized, "Tesla's efforts to meet unrealistic production targets and the insane increase in production volume are ignoring employee safety."
Cage also pointed out that Tesla employees engaged in racially discriminatory behavior and that management was aware of it. He mentioned, "In virtually every break room within the Tesla Fremont factory, symbols and terms of racists, including the Nazi symbol swastika, were used or engraved."
Cage's lawsuit appears to be related to a lawsuit filed by the state of California on the 10th. California sued Tesla, alleging that there were racially discriminatory slurs and harassment against Black workers at the Tesla Fremont factory, and that racially discriminatory graffiti existed in the factory, accusing Tesla of allowing racial discrimination and workplace harassment.
