Highly Pathogenic AI Confirmed at Duck Farm in Hadong, Gyeongnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 22nd that highly pathogenic AI was confirmed at a meat duck farm in Hadong, Gyeongnam.
This is the 45th confirmation of highly pathogenic AI at poultry farms since last fall. The farm raises 15,000 meat ducks.
The headquarters stated, "As highly pathogenic AI is occurring at new poultry farms in regions such as Hadong, Gyeongnam and Nonsan, Chungnam, please close side entrances and back doors without disinfection and quarantine facilities, and thoroughly inspect whether quarantine facilities such as vehicle disinfection systems are adequate." They emphasized, "Farm operators should refrain from accessing migratory bird habitats, reservoirs, retention ponds, and farmland where there is a possibility of virus contact, and strictly comply with quarantine rules including four-step farm disinfection, which includes double disinfection of incoming vehicles (fixed + high-pressure spray)."
