On the 20th, Candidate Lee's Poster Vandalized in Eungam-dong Again
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 50s who damaged election posters of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, was arrested by the police.
The Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 22nd that they arrested a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on the spot for tearing Lee's posters by hand.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of tearing Lee's posters by hand near Yeonsinnae Station in Bulgwang-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, at around 11:15 a.m. on the 21st, violating the Public Official Election Act.
The police responded to a 112 report stating, "Someone is tearing election posters," and arrested Mr. A within 10 minutes on a nearby street. It was confirmed that he was intoxicated at the time of arrest.
A police official said, "A witness said, 'Mr. A was wearing a red padded jacket,' which helped us quickly apprehend him," adding, "The investigation of Mr. A has been completed, and he is scheduled to be sent to the prosecution next week."

Earlier, on the 20th, the police received a 112 report that Lee's posters were torn with a sharp object in a residential area of Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, and are pursuing suspects. On the 19th, a 112 report was also received stating that someone had torn down the entire presidential candidate election poster installed on a fence in Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do.
