[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, sent a verbal letter of congratulations to Xi Jinping, President of China, on the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Korean Central News Agency reported on the 22nd that General Secretary Kim sent a verbal letter to President Xi "regarding the successful progress of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games."
In the letter, General Secretary Kim expressed "sincere and enthusiastic congratulations on the grand and innovative Winter Olympic Games held with distinctive features amid the great expectations and interest of the entire Chinese people and the people of the world," the agency reported.

Additionally, General Secretary Kim evaluated this Olympics as "demonstrating the spirit of China vigorously advancing along the path indicated by the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era," and stated, "Today, the two parties and two countries of North Korea and China are strengthening strategic cooperation and unity to crush the blatant hostile policies and military threats of the United States and its followers, and to protect and advance the common cause of socialism," emphasizing the friendly relations.
