[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong departed on the afternoon of the 21st to attend the "Ministerial Meeting on Indo-Pacific Cooperation (hereinafter Indo-Pacific Meeting)" held in Paris, France.
Minister Chung will attend the Indo-Pacific Meeting in Paris on the 22nd (local time) to discuss issues such as the Korean Peninsula, the New Southern Policy, and strengthening cooperation with regional countries.
The Indo-Pacific Ministerial Meeting was convened by the European Union (EU), which adopted the Indo-Pacific Strategy last September, and France, the EU presidency in the first half of this year, inviting major countries in the region. Discussions are also expected regarding concerns over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

After attending the Indo-Pacific Meeting, Minister Chung will hold a meeting with Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO. The issue of Sado Mine, which Japan forcibly recommended as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, is also expected to be discussed at this meeting. Additionally, from the 22nd to 23rd, bilateral talks will be held with Sweden, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and India, and he will return on the 24th.
