According to BBQ on the 21st, although there have been cases where executives of major corporations have served as heads of various sports associations or sponsored athletes, Yoon is the first representative of a food service franchise to serve as the head of a national team at an international event representing the country, such as the Olympics.
Yoon, familiar with social networking services (SNS) and YouTube, actively promoted the event by creating SNS accounts such as Facebook and Instagram to boost the morale of the team, mainly composed of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), and to raise the Olympic spirit.
He also spared no generous support for the athletes participating in the Olympics. He promised a maximum reward of 100 million won, double the amount given during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, to gold medalists. Silver and bronze medalists were allocated 50 million won and 30 million won respectively. Rewards will also be given to the team coaches according to the medals, and encouragement money will be provided to athletes who did not win medals.
Starting with a joint Seol (Lunar New Year) ceremony praying for the athletes' well-being before the opening ceremony, Yoon carefully took care of the athletes by giving New Year's money to those spending Seol away from home and presenting birthday gifts to athletes celebrating their birthdays on-site. He also volunteered as a local host during visits by key domestic government officials such as National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok.
