[Weather] Cold and Snowy Commute... Cold Wave Until Midweek

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On Monday the 21st, snow is expected to fall mainly in the central region including the Seoul metropolitan area from early morning. Snow flurries will intensify from the morning, with some areas experiencing snowfall until the afternoon. Northern Chungcheong is forecasted to have snow until the afternoon, and the western coast of Jeolla from the afternoon until night.
Expected snowfall amounts are around 1 cm for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the western coast of Chungnam, and the five western islands, while northern inland Chungcheong and the western coast of Jeolla are expected to receive less than 0.1 cm. The Korea Meteorological Administration anticipates that roads will be slippery in areas where snow falls due to low morning temperatures.
Morning low temperatures are forecasted to be -6°C in Seoul, -7°C in Daejeon, -7°C in Daegu, -3°C in Gwangju, and -4°C in Busan, with nationwide temperatures ranging between -13°C and -1°C. The daytime high temperatures are expected to be between 3°C and 9°C. After 9 PM on the same day, a cold wave warning will be issued for northern Gangwon and central mountainous areas, while a cold wave advisory will be in effect for Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk, Chungnam, southern Gangwon mountainous areas, and parts of Gyeonggi Province. Cold weather is expected to continue through the week, with morning lows dropping to as low as -16°C in some areas by Wednesday the 23rd.
The Korea Meteorological Administration also forecasts that very dry atmospheric conditions will persist for some time, especially in the central region under a dry weather advisory, eastern Jeonnam, and the Gyeongsang region. Strong winds and high waves are expected until morning in the East Sea coastal waters, the eastern offshore waters of the South Sea, and the seas around Jeju.
