Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Nongchon Jinheung Project'... Strengthening Agricultural Competitiveness
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it will invest a budget of 8.285 billion KRW this year to promote rural development projects aimed at strengthening agricultural competitiveness and realizing wealthy rural communities and prosperous agriculture.
The city plans to lead the development of local agriculture and create a vibrant agricultural and rural environment through various projects, including agricultural learning groups, fostering young startup farmers, and operating agricultural machinery rental centers.
This year, 78 projects will be carried out in three fields: food crops, income crops, and rural society.
The city held an Agricultural Industry-Academic Cooperation Council meeting at the Agricultural Technology Center auditorium the day before to finalize 78 rural development projects and 182 project recipients for 2022.
About 20 people attended the council meeting, including Lee Wan-ok, director of the Agricultural Technology Center and chairman of the council, Jeongeup City Council members, heads of agricultural-related organizations, and leaders of agricultural groups.
The committee members completed on-site surveys and reviewed the project contents of applicants for each project to ensure transparent and objective pilot project implementation before submitting them to the council.
As a result of the review, 4.6959 billion KRW was allocated to 25 projects in the food crop field, including the white leaf blight control project, and 1.09 billion KRW to 20 projects in the income crop field, such as the dissemination of export standardization technology for horticultural specialty crops.
In the rural society division, project recipients were confirmed for 33 projects, including the leading agricultural management entity excellent modeling project, with a budget of 2.499 billion KRW.
Director Lee Wan-ok said, “We will take the lead in improving the quality of life for farmers by ensuring stable farming activities and increasing income, promoting the settlement of young and talented individuals in agriculture to improve the aging rural labor structure, creating a livable rural environment, and realizing advanced agriculture trusted by consumers.”
Meanwhile, the Agricultural Technology Center promoted the pilot projects through town and township offices from December 22 last year to January 21 this year.
Additionally, objective evaluations based on document screening and on-site surveys were conducted for farms that applied for the pilot projects.
