Gangwon-do Conducts Investigation into Substandard and Illegal General Construction Companies Failing Registration Standards
Targeting 46 General Construction Companies in the Province
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 17th that "during the first half of this year, it will conduct a fact-finding investigation on substandard and illegal construction companies that fail to meet office registration standards among general construction companies within the province."
According to the province, since last year, with the allowance of mutual market entry between general construction companies and specialized construction companies, there has been a trend of facility maintenance companies switching their business type to general construction or specialized construction.
Taking advantage of the confusion caused by this restructuring of the construction industry, some construction companies have been found to illegally share offices by installing entrances and partition walls, even though in principle, one office cannot be shared with another corporation.
Accordingly, the province plans to conduct a focused investigation on 46 general construction companies within the province suspected of failing to meet office registration standards among the 777 registered construction companies.
Furthermore, based on the results of this fact-finding investigation, administrative actions such as business suspension will be taken through administrative disposition notices and hearings.
