Police Detain and Transfer 30-Year-Old Man Who Voluntarily Reported After Killing Parents and Brother
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 30s accused of killing his parents and older brother at an apartment in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, has been handed over to the prosecution.
The Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul sent Kim Mo (31), who is charged with parricide and murder, into custody on the 17th.
Kim is accused of killing his parents and older brother at his home in Yangcheon-gu on the 10th (parricide and murder).
Shortly after the crime, at around 6:50 a.m., he called 119 and reported, "I killed three people." The police, having been notified of the report by the fire department, rushed to the scene, but the family was already deceased upon arrival.
According to the bereaved family, Kim suffers from a mental illness and reportedly stated during the police investigation that he purchased a weapon three days before the crime.
Regarding the motive, he is said to have claimed that he was bullied by his family and discriminated against because he was an adopted son, but Kim’s relatives denied that he was adopted.

The police arrested Kim at the scene and conducted an investigation before applying for an arrest warrant. The court issued the warrant, stating that "the criminal charges are substantiated and there is a risk of flight."
