Short track women's team leader Choi Min-jeong (Seongnam City Hall) is aiming for her second consecutive Olympic gold in the 1500m event.
On the 16th at 8:30 PM, Choi Min-jeong will participate in the women's 1500m quarterfinals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. This is her last chance to win a medal in this competition. In Heat 1, she will compete against Zhang Yuting (China), Petra J?szap?ti (Hungary), Rianne de Vries (Netherlands), Kamila Stormowska (Poland), and Arianna Sighel (Italy). Choi Min-jeong holds the world record in this event. She set the record with a time of 2 minutes 14.354 seconds during the semifinals of the 2016-2017 ISU Short Track World Cup 2nd leg held at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, USA, in November 2016. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 24.948 seconds.

Team senior Kim A-rang (Goyang City Hall) is grouped in Heat 2 with Arianna Fontana (Italy), Anna Seidel (Germany), Corinne Stoddard (USA), Olga Tikhonova (Kazakhstan), and Gwendoline Dode (France). Yoo Bin (Yonsei University), ranked number one in the world for this event in the 2021-2022 World Cup series, will compete in Heat 5 against Kim Boutin (Canada), Cintia Masito (Italy), Natalia Maliszewska (Poland), Kikuchi Yuki, and Kaminaga Shione (both from Japan). The top two finishers from each heat and the three fastest third-place finishers will advance to the semifinals.
