Dongmyung University held the project launch ceremony on the 15th at the university’s First Information and Communication Building.
The project focuses on four areas: ▲AI drones ▲Smart Toll Gate ▲Energy Analysis KIOSK ▲Inspection Equipment, and is carried out through collaboration between domestic and international industries and students from university SW departments.
The project by Dongmyung University’s SW-Centered University Project Group consists of four thematic projects based on foundational technologies necessary for building smart cities in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including artificial intelligence, energy management, security, healthcare, environmental information, and social data. It will be conducted over 10 months from February 15 to October 30.
Participating domestic and international companies include global AI and SW-related firms such as Intel, data analysis and classification specialist Coopwa, server and network expert Shaep, and video processing and security specialist KMCP.
At Dongmyung University, students from five SW-centered university participating departments?Computer Engineering, Game Engineering, AI, Information Security, and Digital Media Engineering?are involved.
The four themes are ▲AI drones for practical development of object automatic recognition and artificial intelligence using drones, ▲Smart Toll Gate for developing inference processes through data collection and preprocessing, ▲Energy Analysis KIOSK for efficient energy use through building energy collection and management, and ▲Inspection Equipment for developing product inspection and classification systems through video processing.
Dongmyung University’s SW-Centered University Project Group is collaborating with Intel and Google to conduct educational programs to increase project execution efficiency and produce excellent results.
Starting with basics in Python and Linux, the program includes foundational AI and SW education and advanced courses per project, covering Google Cloud Server, openVINO, ESI Stack, etc. It is designed to enhance students’ ability to independently carry out projects.
Each team will be provided with an environment and hardware similar to actual development settings, offering participating students a more practical working environment.
Students who complete the project will receive educational certificates from Intel and Google and opportunities for employment connections with participating companies.
Joo-seok Lee, Executive Director at Intel, said, “Starting with Dongmyung University, a hands-on ‘Doing University,’ we hope this will be an opportunity to support a wider range of projects.”
Mi-kyung Jo, Director of the SW-Centered University, said, “This is an opportunity for students to freely analyze and process big data and grow into important talent in the AI and SW industries,” adding, “We are planning projects on themes needed by students and companies every year.”
