Hanwha Systems Collaborates with Israeli Defense Company IAI on Warship Combat System Export
Signing of Joint Marketing MOU for Export to Asian Markets
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyeyoung] Hanwha Systems is joining hands with Israel's leading defense company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to secure export routes for ship combat systems.
Hanwha Systems announced on the 15th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IAI to jointly promote marketing for the export of ship combat systems to the Asian market.
IAI is a global aerospace and defense company providing advanced technologies in space, aviation, land, maritime, cyber, and homeland security sectors for defense and commercial markets.
The two companies plan to actively cooperate on entering the global market, including Asia, based on Hanwha Systems' ship combat system and system integration technology and IAI's ship armament and sensor technology. In particular, they agreed to form an operations committee to pursue continuous and progressive cooperation.
The combat system is the brain of a ship that determines the outcome of naval battles, referring to the weapon system that integrates and operates various sensors, armaments, and other communication and command systems installed on the ship.
Hanwha Systems currently holds the only combat system development capability domestically for next-generation frigates FFX-Ⅲ and next-generation destroyers KDDX, and has exported combat systems to Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines and Malaysia.
Seongcheol Uh, CEO of Hanwha Systems, said, "Hanwha Systems has supplied combat systems to over 80 vessels including surface ships and submarines of the Republic of Korea Navy over the past 40 years," adding, "Through this partnership with IAI, we will be able to significantly contribute to strengthening the naval power of Asian countries in the future."
