Locket Healthcare and Harvard University Startup Collaborate on VR Platform for Brain Cognitive Assessment
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Bio healthcare company Rokit Healthcare announced on the 14th that it has signed a joint development contract with React, a startup from Harvard University in the United States, for the virtual reality (VR) platform ‘React Neuro’ that evaluates brain cognitive function decline and damage.
Rokit Healthcare began joint development last year for the domestic commercialization of React Neuro and is also pursuing approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
React is a startup founded by a neuroscientist from Harvard Medical School. It is jointly developing the React Neuro platform with Rokit Healthcare, which evaluates brain cognitive function decline and brain damage using VR. React Neuro utilizes eye tracking, voice recognition, and motion detection functions in a virtual reality environment to conduct cognitive assessment tests quickly and accurately.
Anyone can evaluate brain health if they want, just like a blood pressure test. Since all assessments are conducted based on VR, the reliability of results is not affected by environment or conditions. The company explained that the biggest advantage is that quantification and objectification are possible.
A company official said, "Brain health management is important, but until now, there has been no equipment to check it in advance and prevent diseases," adding, "Through this platform, our company will provide solutions not only for senile brain diseases and cognitive decline caused by stress or depression but also for undetected brain health issues."
Yoo Seok-hwan, CEO of Rokit Healthcare, said, "Virtual reality is being recognized as a future industry in the medical field," and added, "We will develop it into a comprehensive brain health management representative platform."
