"Bulk Up Worked" Ottogi's 'Big Yukgaejang Cup' Surpasses 20 Million Units Sold
‘Big Yukgaejang Cup’ with 20% Increased Volume Achieves 20 Million Sales in 8 Months Since Renewal
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Ottogi announced on the 14th that its 'Big Yukgaejang Cup,' which increased its weight by 20% compared to the previous version, surpassed 20 million units sold just eight months after its renewal in May last year. The company explained that the popularity is due to recognizing consumer demand for hearty and cost-effective food and reflecting it in the product.
Responding to consumer feedback that one 'Yukgaejang Cup' was insufficient in quantity, Ottogi increased not only the noodles, ingredients, and powdered soup but also the size and number of scrambled eggs. Additionally, the broth, made by simmering brisket stock in a cauldron and adding spicy seasoning for a savory taste, was renewed to deepen its flavor.
In November last year, Ottogi also appointed actor Namgoong Min, who gained attention for his '14kg bulk-up,' as the model for the Big Yukgaejang Cup to strengthen marketing as the product gained word-of-mouth popularity. Since then, the Big Yukgaejang Cup's average monthly sales increased by 154% compared to before the renewal.
