Police Book On-Site Manager for Negligence in Safety Management in Yeocheon NCC Plant Explosion Accident
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Regarding the explosion accident at Yeocheon NCC factory in Yeosu National Industrial Complex that resulted in 8 casualties, the police plan to criminally charge the person in charge at the site and expand the investigation.
The Jeonnam Police Agency's dedicated investigation team for the Yeocheon NCC 3rd factory explosion accident announced on the 12th that they have booked the site manager, Mr. A, on charges of professional negligence causing death.
Mr. A is suspected of neglecting safety management of the process he was responsible for at the Yeocheon NCC Yeosu factory 3rd plant in Hwachi-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeonnam, at around 9:26 a.m. on the 11th, causing an explosion accident that resulted in 8 workers being injured or killed.
Immediately after the accident, the police completed questioning six people, including eyewitnesses at the site and subcontractor officials, as witnesses, and it is known that they plan to apply for a search warrant for the relevant company.
At around 9:26 a.m. on the 11th, an explosion accident occurred at the Yeocheon NCC Yeosu factory 3rd plant in Hwachi-dong, Yeosu Industrial Complex, Jeonnam.
As a result of this accident, 8 workers who were working at the factory were injured or killed; 7 of them (3 dead, 4 minor injuries) belonged to subcontractors, and 1 person (dead) belonged to the primary contractor, Yeocheon NCC.
The accident occurred while subcontractor employees were conducting a 'heat exchanger tightness test' to check performance before restarting after cleaning the heat exchanger.
The police believe the explosion occurred while increasing internal pressure to check for air leaks and are investigating compliance with on-site safety regulations.
On the 14th, the cause of death of the deceased will be confirmed through autopsies.
