Gwangju Buk-gu Council's 'Ordinance to Support the Activation of Environmental Education' Passes Standing Committee
Residents Themselves Practice Environmental Conservation in Daily Life
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The “Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu Environmental Education Activation Support Ordinance,” which was primarily proposed by Go Jeomrye, a member of the Gwangju Buk-gu Council, and co-sponsored by Kim Youngsoon, Lim Jongguk, Choi Kiyoung, Yang Okgun, Kim Hyungsu, Kim Geonan, Choi Yonghwan, and Han Yangim, passed the Safety City Committee review on the 11th.
The main contents of the ordinance include ▲matters related to the establishment of an environmental education promotion plan ▲support for schools and others to activate environmental education ▲activation of social environmental education and environmental education by business operators ▲environmental education for affiliated public officials, among others.
This ordinance is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the local community by raising residents’ interest in environmental issues through the activation of environmental education, cultivating correct knowledge and values, and enabling residents themselves to practice environmental conservation in their daily lives.
Councilor Go Jeomrye emphasized, “Do you think the next generation will live a better life than us? There is no ‘next’ in climate change,” and added, “Environmental education for all generations is essential for improving environmental issues and sustainable development.”
The ordinance, having passed the standing committee, is scheduled to be submitted to the 2nd plenary session on the 15th.
