"Exceeding Hundreds of Millions"... Imported Electric Vehicle Sales Soar
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Sales of imported electric vehicles are rapidly increasing. Among them, electric vehicles priced over 100 million KRW more than doubled compared to January last year.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA) on the 10th, a total of 502 imported electric vehicles were sold last month. This is a 318% surge compared to 120 units in January last year.
Along with this, the proportion of electric vehicles in total imported car sales also jumped significantly from 0.54% to 2.89%.
Among the vehicles sold, sales of high-priced electric vehicles exceeding 100 million KRW also increased. A total of 287 units were sold last month, more than doubling compared to 117 units in the same month last year.
The best-selling vehicle was the Porsche Taycan, priced at around 120 million KRW, with 109 units sold. Following was the Mercedes-Benz EQA with 84 units, ranking second. The BMW iX3 (61 units), BMW iX xDrive 40 (51 units), and Mercedes-Benz EQC (50 units) ranked third to fifth respectively.
