Choi Min-jeong, who was in Heat 1, set a new Olympic record of 1:28.053 in the women's 1000m heat 1 held on the 9th at the Beijing Capital Indoor Stadium during the Beijing Olympics. With this, she secured a spot in the quarterfinals.
