[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] On the 9th, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will promote a contest to discover representative tourist souvenirs of the region.
This contest allows up to two entries per person (or company), featuring creative works that incorporate Wando's characteristics and stories such as local culture and history, utilizing specialties and tourist resources like abalone, gim (seaweed), miyeok (wakame), and dashima (kelp).
Entries must be products that tourists and others can easily purchase, such as folk and craft items, industrial products, processed or functional foods, and must be suitable for mass production.
Anyone in the nation is eligible to participate, and submissions can be sent to the Tourism Policy Team of the Tourism Division at Wando County Office from June 14 to June 20.
The county will select a total of 12 works through judging: one grand prize (3 million KRW), one gold prize (2 million KRW), two silver prizes (1 million KRW each), three bronze prizes (500,000 KRW each), two honorable mentions (300,000 KRW each), and three idea prizes (300,000 KRW each).

Seo Gil-su, head of the Tourism Division, said, “We hope that excellent works representing Wando will be selected and utilized in various ways such as festivals,” and added, “We look forward to much interest and participation in the contest.”
